Plain-language interim terms. This summarizes how Nir works, in plain English, so you know what you're agreeing to. A final version is being drafted by a licensed Illinois attorney and will replace it. This summary is not legal advice.
Section 1
You use Nir as an independent professional running your own business. You are not an employee of Nir. When you take a gig, the salon engages you as an independent contractor for that work — not as its employee — unless you and the salon agree otherwise in writing. You control how you perform your services, set your own availability, and are responsible for your own taxes, records, and legal obligations.
Section 2
You represent that you hold a valid nail technician license in your state and will keep it current. You authorize Nir to record your license and, for the Verified badge, to review it. Providing false or expired license information may result in removal from the marketplace.
Section 3
You are responsible for carrying any insurance appropriate to your work. To rent a chair (Open Chair), you must confirm you carry your own liability coverage, because you operate your own business on the salon's premises.
Section 4
You are solely responsible for the services you perform, their safety, and their outcome. You will follow applicable health, sanitation, and licensing rules and treat clients and salons professionally.
Section 5
If you offer home visits, you are responsible for your own safety, travel, and compliance, and for any additional insurance mobile work requires. Nir only facilitates the request between you and the client.
Section 6
In Open Chair, you rent space at a salon to serve your own clients. You keep your clients and your earnings from them, and you pay the salon the agreed chair fee directly. You and the salon agree on the rate, schedule, and what's included before the rental begins. Nir records the agreement and that the fee was settled, but does not collect or hold the rent.
Section 7
In a Gig, a salon engages you short-term to work the salon's clients. The salon pays you the agreed rate directly. You perform the work as an independent contractor for the length of the gig. Nir records the agreement, your check-in and check-out, and that payment was settled — but does not process the payment.
Section 8
Except for optional client booking deposits (which Nir processes through its payment provider), Nir does not process, hold, or disburse money between you and salons. You and the salon are responsible for paying each other directly and on time. Nir records when a payment is marked settled; it is not a party to, and does not guarantee, any payment between you and a salon or client.
Section 9
Before you can apply for gigs or rent a chair, you complete a self-attested verification: an independent-contractor acknowledgment, agreement to these terms, and — for rentals — confirmation of your own insurance. A Verified badge additionally reflects a review of your license. Nir does not run criminal background checks, and verification is not a guarantee of safety, quality, or outcome.
Section 10
After a completed gig, you and the salon may rate each other. Your completed work and ratings form a track record shown to salons considering you. Rate honestly and in good faith; misuse of ratings may result in removal.
Section 11
Some features use images of nails and hands. Where biometric identifiers are involved, they are handled under our Biometric Policy and applicable law, with your consent.
Section 12
You own your work. By publishing outcome photos to your Nir portfolio or the public feed, you grant Nir a license to display them for discovery and attribution. You may remove published work at any time.
Section 13
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for your own acts and omissions and agree to indemnify Nir for claims arising from your services or your dealings with salons or clients. Nir's liability is limited as set out in the Terms of Service.
Section 14
Disputes about rent, wages, or services are between you and the salon or client — Nir is not a party. Disputes with Nir about the platform itself are governed by our Terms of Service (Illinois law, Cook County).
Section 15
You may stop using the marketplace at any time. Nir may suspend or remove access for violations of these terms, false information, or misconduct. Obligations already incurred — such as paying or being paid for completed work — survive termination.
